Lacrosse Newsletter No 12

Hi Player s and Parents,

Welcome back to the second half of the Lacrosse Season

Three weeks has flown and I bet you are all ready to pick up your sticks and play a bit of Lacrosse.

TEMPORARY CLUBROOMS

You’ll notice a huge change at the club, we are now moving into our temporary accommodation as we begin the building program for our state of the art new club rooms.  Things are going to be cramped and I daresay a bit messy over the next 18 months so please join in as players and parents and help us make this “pain before gain time” as easy as is possible.  You’ll see it all there at training tomorrow night. Parents please take a note of where our “new digs” are and check to see that you have suitable pick up places for your children.

We welcome back Hayley, who has had a wonderful trip with the Australian Under 23 side. She started in each game and loved her time representing her Country and playing in front of large crowds and meeting players from all over the world.  Australia came 2nd in the event – a great effort and once again it’s great to have you back again Hayley, especially now that you don’t have to rely on me to get the bread.

Curtain Raiser Surrey Park V Camberwell

A great bunch of talented Surrey Players took to the ground in the Curtain raiser to the July 5th Aussie V USA game.  We played Camberwell’s A team who were looked large and imposing.  After a strongly contested game Camberwell came home the victors 10 – 3. A pretty good result, with many of our seventeen players having their first run in a real game, and they were up against much older and more experienced opposition.  The players were all terrific and showed that next year when they are another year older they will take that next step and put a win on the board.

It is all back on this week at 6.00 pm the four teams; Surrey All-stars, Wattle Park Primary, Mont Albert Primary and Laburnum have played each other once, with Surrey & Laburnum each scoring two wins and Wattle Park & Laburnum one each. This second round should see some hotter competition as players are returning from extended holidays and injury.

This week the fixture is

Wattle Park V Laburnum

Mont Albert V Surrey All- Stars

Under 12’s

Our Under 12 side takes on Eltham at Eltham, things are back to normal now that Hayley is back. Our thanks go to  Blair Pepperel, Andrew Ham & Laura Tillotson for helping out whilst Hayley was away. Have a great game of Lacrosse. Please be there at 9.00 am for a 9.30 am start.

Under 14’s

Our team play Footscray at Fleming Park. This was a great game earlier in the season so let’s hope the side has come back from the break ready it put the ball in the back of the net more often than Footscray and that everyone has a great game. Please be there at 9.00am for a 9.30 am start

Under 15’s

I am not too sure why the women’s junior teams played last week when everyone else had a bye but that’s what happened.

The girls had a great game against Caulfield winning 10 -3.  I must congratulate Tayla McAuliffe for scoring a bag of 4, a great effort.

The team play Eltham at home on Sunday, could all girls be there at 10.30 am for an 11.00 am start

That’s it for this week

Enjoy your Lacrosse everyone
