Kyle Weber drops in

Surrey Park’s latest US recruit has landed and has already made a big impact on and off the field.

Kyle is the brother of ex Surrey player JT Weber and has come to with great wraps to help Surrey defend their title.

A strong right handed forward Kyle has just graduated from Endicott College starring in their Division III Men's Lacrosse program.

Kyle finished with 68 points in his Senior year helping Endicott to a 16-4 record in the 2014-15 season. This included 59 goals which led the side.

The team's biggest win was against 10th ranked Lynchburg where they won 15-13 and Kyle bagged 5 goals on a 100% shooting percentage!

Kyle has already fitted in really well with all the senior players at SPLC and is involved in the junior program as well helping with the training and coaching a junior side.

Please make sure you say g’day to Kyle and maybe come and see him play!

Surrey's River Bradley makes All Star team at Nationals

Surrey Park's own River Bradley has made the 2015 ALA Senior All Star team after an impressive tournament playing for Victoria in the ALA Australian Championships, held in Perth on the Queens Birthday weekend. The Vics lost the final 17-9 to a strong outfit from WA but Bradley was the backbone of the visitors defence and was the only defender from Victoria selected. A great effort.

In addition to being a key part of Surrey's defence, River is a great contributor the club including coaching our U/11 side.

Well done River!

Surrey Park welcomes Ike Hopper

We are excited to welcome Ike Hopper to Surrey Park for season 2015. Below is an article written by Ash Davidson, picked up by the Heralds Sun / Leader Newspapers.

Surrey Park signs Native North American Ike Hopper to teach the club the sceret of successful lacrosse

Surrey Park Lacrosse have had a long history of attracting top quality American Lacrosse players to the club to play and to see first hand our great country!

This upcoming season is no exception with two imports coming to help us defend our premiership and enjoy Melbourne life and beyond.

However, this year’s first signing comes from a background that has true meaning to any person who has played or been involved in lacrosse.

Ike Hopper is a native North American and grew up on the Onondaga reservation outside Syracuse in America’s NorthEast.

He was born with a stick in his hand and played a lot of junior lacrosse with the famous Thompson brothers who starred in the last year’s World Championships in Denver.

For those that are unaware, the North American natives invented the game of Lacrosse before a French settler gave it its present name.

It had several traditional names and purposes but was essentially played between the tribes to keep the ‘Six Nations of the Iroquois’ together.

Ike has most recently graduated from Adelphi University where Surrey Park has ties and comes with huge wraps for his goal scoring ability and general presence and ability.

Being 6’8 he will certainly be an imposing force up front for Surrey this year.

We look forward to having Ike here to show us a thing or two in 2015. Check out this video for some highlights and background.

If you are interested to see Ike play or witness the teams tilt at back to back premierships, contact the club by visiting the website at www.surreyparklacrosse.org.au

Alternatively, come by the ground on any given Saturday and see it first hand. Mont Albert Reserve, Corner of Braemar St and Dunloe Ave, Mont Albert.
